What is BSA?

The BSA was founded in 2020 to address chronic quality-of-life issues that often lead to law enforcement intervention and over policing. Through collaboration with city, state, federal, and community-based partners, we drive resources directly to the block, alleviating the underlying causes of crime and disorder.

At the BSA, community members connect with service providers and government agencies that offer tangible support, while crisis management teams respond to 911/311 calls and on-the-ground disruptions—reducing the need for police intervention. Our location is intentional, focusing on areas historically impacted by violence and in urgent need of resources.

How it works

911 operators receive a call in the BSA catchment area

>

Call is transferred to the CMS team on site at the BSA

>

Violent Interrupters from BIVO and the BSA Care team respond to the situation

>
IF police assistance is required, the police in the area are contacted
>

Violence Interrupters and the Care team diffuse the situation and provide resources

>

NO ARRESTS
